I live in an area where a lot of people are keeping up with Jones’s. Big houses and expensive cars. Everything is great till they break down. Water Heaters, Air Conditioners, and Maintenance can all be costly. Alot of home breakdowns happen within 3 years of buying a house. New homes are not always except due to cheap installs by builders. I remember a young couple bought their first house and they were so thrilled. Within a year, the A/C went out and a water heater. They were so upset and asked me if this is how it is when things break? They were used to renting and never had to pay when something broke. I said to them yes, it is. Especially, a house where there is almost always something that needs to be fixed or repaired. It can be very frustrating. The fact is, if you own it, it’s your responsibility. The good news is, the better you are about normal maintenance, the longer things will last so the less things will cost in the long run. Same for cars. Keep up with the normal maintenance and you’ll most likely save yourself from expensive repairs. If that’s not good enough, then there’s always the rent option.
